Benefits of Membership
In addition to strengthening AAEM in the continuance of its mission for
the recognition of board certification as the minimum requirement of a
specialist in Emergency Medicine, and for the inclusion of due process
rights and freedom from restrictive covenants in all Emergency Medicine
contracts, each member of AAEM enjoys the following benefits:
-
The Journal of Emergency Medicine
The Journal of Emergency Medicine (JEM) is the official journal
of the American Academy of Emergency Medicine. JEM is an
international, peer-reviewed publication featuring original contributions
of interest to both the academic and practicing emergency physician.
Published eight times per year, JEM includes research papers
and clinical studies as well as articles focusing on the training
of emergency physicians and on the practice of Emergency Medicine.
As AAEM's official journal, a subscription to JEM is included
in the membership dues of each Lifetime, Full Voting, Associate, International (electronic version), Resident,
and Student member. AAEM actively encourages its membership to contribute
editorial material for publication in JEM.
-
Common Sense
Common Sense is the official newsletter of AAEM. It is a bi-monthly
publication that reports on all AAEM activities and news from the
world of Emergency Medicine. It is delivered to the AAEM membership
six times a year, which currently stands at more than 4,000 emergency
physicians, residents, and others with an interest in Emergency Medicine.
Advertising options are available. Contact info@aaem.org for more
information.
-
Discounted Registration for all AAEM Meetings
AAEM is committed to providing physicians with excellent educational
activities that will enhance the quality of their medical practice.
The standard of these educational activities will be such as to appeal
to the professional interests of the specialist in Emergency Medicine,
which AAEM defines as a physician certified by either the American
Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM) or the American Board of Osteopathic
Emergency Medicine (AOBEM) in Emergency Medicine or Pediatric Emergency
Medicine. Activities that support the personal and professional welfare
of the individual specialist are of primary concern to AAEM.
-
Job Bank
The AAEM Job Bank is a service provided by the American Academy of
Emergency Medicine. Its goal is to assist board certified emergency
physicians in finding healthy, long-term positions with practice groups
or other organizations that are committed to providing democratic
and equitable work environments. You must be a member of AAEM in order
to participate in the Job Bank.
-
Political Action Committee
AAEM PAC is the political action committee of AAEM. Through AAEM PAC,
AAEM is able to support legislation and effect change on behalf of
its members and with consideration to their unique concerns.
