Tom Scaletta, MD, has degrees from Loyola University in mathematics and computer science. Before entering medical school at the University of Illinois, he was a programmer for an actuarial firm. He completed his residency in emergency medicine at Northwestern University. Tom is board certified in both emergency medicine and clinical informatics.
Tom held academic leadership positions at San Francisco General Hospital and Cook County Hospital. He is a medical director for two Endeavor Health (Chicago area) emergency departments. Tom is the CEO of Auscura, a communication automation technology company. He authored Emergent Management of Trauma (McGraw-Hill). Tom writes articles and gives lectures on ED operations and patient experience topics.
Tom has been dedicated to the mission of AAEM for three decades and is a past president.
