The Florida Chapter Division has several work groups to address the Chapter’s purpose of advocacy, leadership and education. Members are invited to support our initiatives by joining one or more work groups: Scientific Assembly, Membership & Communication, Resident & Student Affairs and Government Affairs. Each work group meets via Zoom on dates and times agreed upon by members. The term of this role is one year (April-April).
FLAAEM Scientific Assembly
FLAAEM has an annual Scientific Assembly in South Florida. It is currently structured as a two-day educational conference, beginning Friday evening and continuing all day Saturday concluding with an evening reception. As an organization committed to providing for the educational needs of the board certified emergency physician, FLAAEM’s Scientific Assembly features topics and speakers on the cutting edge of research and practice in the specialty. This work group is responsible for serving as the planning team to organize speakers, programs, supplies, marketing and sponsors.
Membership & Communications
This FLAAEM work group is focused on the recruitment, engagement and retention of board certified and board eligible physicians by communicating Chapter events through invitations, newsletters, MyAAEM and social media pushes.
Resident & Student Affairs
This FLAAEM work group is focused on the recruitment, engagement and retention of medical students and resident physicians by communicating Chapter events through invitations, newsletters, MyAAEM and social media pushes. The Medical School Student Council focuses on the recruitment, engagement and retention of medical students through activities such as competitions, education and networking.
Government Affairs
This work group is tasked with updating and communicating with FLAAEM members about the local and state Florida legislative priorities that effect physicians and patient care. The group creates and maintains a fact sheet of current legislation in discussion, fact sheets for talking with senators/representatives and organizing a legislative day in Tallahassee.
