Take Action: Support SB 951 to Protect Physician Autonomy

Dear AAEM Members,

Oregon’s SB 951 protects patients and physicians by prohibiting the corporate practice of medicine and banning non-compete clauses for medical professionals. This bill ensures that medical decisions remain in the hands of physicians—not corporate entities—so we can provide the best care for our patients without outside interference. The bill has a hearing on March 4th and we need your help supporting it.

AAEM strongly supports SB 951 because it:

  • Prevents non-physicians from influencing clinical decisions, staffing, and billing practices.
  • Bans non-compete clauses that restrict where emergency physicians can work.

Now, we need your voice to help make this bill law!

Your perspective as an emergency physician is invaluable. We ask you to write a testimony that shares your experience with either the corporate practice of medicine or noncompete clauses. You can submit testimony in support of SB 951 to the Oregon Senate Committee on Health Care. Submit testimony by clicking this link, filling out the form, and uploading a PDF. Testimony must be received by March 6th.

Additionally, you can choose to speak at the March 4th hearing, by signing up here and clicking the “Register to Testify” tab.

Thank you for standing with us to protect physician independence and patient care.

Thanks,

The American Academy of Emergency Medicine
