Dr. Best is the President of the independent, democratic group Emergency Physicians of Tidewater (EPT) in Virginia. She has served in multiple roles within EPT including facility medical director and board member before being elected President in 2018. She has transformed the 50+ year-old partnership that provides services at 7 facilities with over 100 physicians.
Dr. Best attended Wofford College for her undergraduate degree in chemistry, and attended medical school at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. She completed residency at Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS), serving as chief resident her 3rd year. Dr. Best is now assistant professor and community faculty at EVMS.
As the chair of the Emergency Medicine Business Coalition (EMBC), she is committed to EMBC’s mission to ensure the success of physician-owned emergency medicine practice groups by delivering modern business solutions. Dr. Best has been engaged on the national level through committee work in AAEM and as an oral boards examiner for ABEM.
